Co-Impact is a global collaborative of philanthropists and foundations who are coming together to fund large-scale systems change. This involves supporting coalitions that are based in the countries which they work, to build resilient and sustainable societies where women, men, and children can reach their full potential. Co-Impact uses open and transparent processes to identify coalitions of local communities, nonprofits, governments, and in some cases, businesses that are solving social injustices at scale. At the core of their model is a commitment to using an intersectional and gender-inclusive lens to support these partners to marshal the resources, technical capacity, and political will for enduring change.
Co-Impact recognise that there are many paths to systems change. They believe that partners who have the local relationships and know-how are best placed to achieve and sustain results for the communities they ultimately seek to serve.
The nature of the model developed by Co-Impact works to establish and maintain true partnerships rooted in mutual respect and trust. They provide flexible grants for initiatives that are highly focused on outcomes, and are accountable to the lives of the millions of people these initiatives hope to serve.
Current funders include Richard Chandler, The ELMA Foundation, Bill and Melinda Gates, Rohini and Nandan Nilekani, The Rockefeller Foundation, MacKenzie Scott, and Jeff Skoll. Co-Impact aims to encourage further philanthropic givers to support initiatives that assist in strong, holistic, large-scale solutions. Co-Impact also aims to catalyse more philanthropy towards supporting systems change and to influence philanthropy to be more effective.
Co-Impact believe in a world where all women, men, and children can reach their full potential irrespective of their birth circumstances. Their first fund (2017-2026) aims to impact at least 20 million people through partner initiatives. Their second fund, launching in 2021, aims to impact at least 50 million people.
