Typical day?
A typical day consists of early morning wake up from our boy Alfie who likes to go out for a walk before he starts his day! We come back and frantically run around the house trying to get in the car in time to get to daycare before the peak hour traffic kicks in. Steph and I both work full time. After work, we pick Alfie up, head home to get his regular night time routine started: 5 courses (as the first 4 ended up on the floor), shower and bed by 7pm. From a young age, we kept Alfie’s 7pm routine in place and so far he sleeps through the night, we’re very lucky. Then we cook dinner, eat by 8:30, debrief then bed.

It’s hectic, we love it and it’s only about get a lot more crazy…we cannot wait!

What’s the hardest part about being a parent?
Finding time to fit everything into the day

What’s the one thing you wish you’d been told about being a parent?
That ‘me time’ is now ‘you and me time’, it is very rare to have time actually on your own EVER!

What’s the most unexpected thing about being a new parent?
Babies can be fussy eaters – sometimes I cook 5 courses in a sitting just to get something into him.

What’s one thing you do to sometimes just get through the day and make things easier?
Put on Netflix kids and have a beer!

What are the key things you look for in babycare products?
Natural products where possible and value for money

Chris' questions for Thankyou

Where do the funds raised from Thankyou products end up?
At Thankyou, our aim is to help end global poverty, that’s why we commit 100% of the profits from our products to it. Our personal care range (hand wash, body wash, coffee scrub - oh my gosh, if you haven’t tried it you need to - sanitiser and lotions) help get water, sanitation and hygiene to people in need while our baby range (nappies, shampoo, wipes, lotion, balm, ointment, bath milk) help fund safe births and healthcare for mums and bubs in need.

We fund water, sanitation and hygiene projects because right now over 844 million people around the world don’t have access to safe water and 2.4 billion people don’t have access to safe toilets. Our funding goes towards safe water, hygiene, education and safe toilets. While we fund tangible hardware solutions like water wells, piped water systems and filtration systems, every project is underpinned by training and education. We believe in investing in solutions that strengthen and build capacity in existing systems and structures to ensure access to clean water, safe toilets and hygienic practices are provided, forever.

We fund safe births and healthcare because every 103 seconds a mother dies in pregnancy and childbirth (with 99% of these deaths happening in developing nations), and globally 2.6 million babies don’t reach their first month of life because they don’t have access to basic health care. Our funding goes towards providing access to antenatal and postnatal care, building or improving safe birthing centres (upgrading beds, electricity, lights, access to clean water, medical supplies, malaria nets, safe birthing kits), training and education for governmental health officials (doctors/nurses), skilled birth attendants and female health community volunteers and advocating against harmful cultural and historical practices to educate mothers and families about healthy behaviours during and after pregnancy.

How do you ensure that your products are so reliable?
It’s our aim to make products that do what they say they’ll do, so with that as a benchmark we work with our suppliers and manufacturers (who have over 30 years experience in formulating naturally derived and beautifully designed products here in Australia) on continuous improvement and testing.

Products undergo stability testing,  toxicology testing and sensory analysis. We use this information to refine the formula (and then test all over again) before we bring it to market. We then test every batch to ensure they’re at the best possible standard and in line with the quality and performance we expect. The Innovation Team also work to find the best quality ingredients that will either save parents time or fulfil a need they have for their baby.

"The shampoo for sure, we use it all the time on Alfie and he even tries to put it on his own head now!"

Our ingredients are derived from nature, baby.

Baby Care that Cares

Every 103 seconds a mother dies in childbirth. Globally, 2.7 million babies don’t make it through their first month of life every year because they don’t have access to basic health care.

We reckon that’s pretty messed up. That’s why our baby range helps get life-changing health services like immunisation programs, training of skilled midwives and medical supplies to mums and bubs in need.

So on behalf of all the lives you’re changing when you choose Thankyou, we say thank YOU!
